Aftermath of head trauma
Disease description:
A neighbor was in a car accident and suffered a head impact. I would like to know what possible aftereffects can occur following a head injury?
The treatment of sequelae after traumatic brain injury must be based on the specific circumstances at the time. Some individuals experience only mild trauma, presenting with headaches and dizziness but no organic changes, and thus do not develop significant sequelae. With standard treatment, such cases usually improve within 1–2 weeks and require no special follow-up care. However, if there is substantial brain damage—such as cerebral contusion, subdural hematoma, or epidural hematoma—some long-term sequelae may occur.
