Dr. Bai Hongmei
After injury to the deep branch of the radial nerve, patients may experience numbness in the radial side of the fingers and decreased cutaneous sensation. Symptoms may also include limited ability to extend the thumb and wrist. In cases of deep branch radial nerve injury, prompt medical evaluation at an orthopedic department is necessary. If indicated, an anteroposterior X-ray of the forearm should be performed to identify the underlying cause. When radial nerve injury is suspected, electromyography (EMG) may be required to determine the location and type of deep posterior branch injury.
