What causes encephalitis in adults?

Encephalitis in adults is caused by infection of the brain parenchyma with viruses, bacteria, or other pathogenic microorganisms, typically triggered by pathogens from an infectious source when the patient is excessively fatigued or immunocompromised. Adult encephalitis can be classified into different types depending on the causative organism, and the patient's clinical symptoms are primarily related to the site of infection. Common manifestations include fever, limb convulsions, and varying degrees of impaired consciousness. In severe cases, patients may fall into a coma or even die.
