I'm planning to have an eye corner surgery, and the doctor advised me to get an eye examination first, saying that if I have amblyopia, I cannot undergo this procedure. Why can't someone with amblyopia have eye corner surgery?

Dr. Li Fengyong
Amblyopia is not typically treated by surgical enlargement of the eye corners, as this would generally affect daily life. The visual performance of individuals with amblyopia is usually impaired to varying degrees in binocular vision, fusion, and stereoscopic vision. Amblyopia occurs when a child's eyes experience decreased vision in one or both eyes during the visual development process. Common causes include congenital hyperopia, astigmatism, ptosis, and congenital cataracts.
