Disease description:

Today, my child came home and said a small mosquito had entered his ear. He has been complaining of ear discomfort ever since. I can’t see inside the ear myself—could you please advise whether there’s any first-aid measure I can take in this situation?

Hello, if an insect enters your ear, do **not** attempt to remove it with a cotton swab or ear pick—this may irritate the insect and cause it to burrow deeper. Instead, you can exploit the insect’s phototactic behavior: in a dimly lit environment, shine a flashlight into the ear canal to attract the insect to crawl out on its own. Alternatively, you may instill a few drops of sesame oil (not too much) into the affected ear, then tilt your head to that side; after a short while, the insect should slide out. If these methods prove ineffective, please seek medical attention at a hospital for professional removal. I hope this information is helpful. Wishing you good health!
