The process of tubal irrigation takes about 5 to 10 minutes. Here is how the procedure works: First, the doctor disinfects the patient's external genitalia, then inserts a vaginal speculum to open the vagina. After exposing the cervix, a special three-way catheter is inserted into the woman's uterus, and liquid medication is injected through this catheter. The fluid flows from the uterine cavity into the fallopian tubes, allowing the doctor to determine whether the fallopian tubes are blocked based on resistance during injection. If there is significant resistance and the patient experiences severe pain, it indicates tubal obstruction; otherwise, the fallopian tubes are relatively patent.
