What are the aftereffects of stroke?
Disease description:
A few years ago, I was diagnosed with stroke. I would like to ask, what are the aftereffects of stroke?
Post-stroke sequelae refer to neurological deficits that persist one year after a stroke. These may include hemiplegia, numbness in the limbs, slurred speech, cognitive impairment, urinary and fecal incontinence, dysphagia, and other related symptoms. If symptoms are mild, patients may be able to manage daily activities independently. However, if symptoms are severe, patients may become dependent on close family care for daily living. Post-stroke sequelae carry a high risk of recurrence, particularly due to the high recurrence rate of ischemic cerebrovascular disease.
