Can dead crayfish be eaten?
Disease description:
I bought crayfish this morning, but many of them died by this afternoon. I’d like to ask: Is it generally safe to eat crayfish after they’ve died?
If crayfish have been dead for an extended period, they should no longer be consumed, as bacterial growth increases significantly after death, leading to protein degradation in the crayfish.
Consuming such crayfish may cause food poisoning, resulting in symptoms including nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, and diarrhea.
