Adults with fever should generally not take azithromycin tablets. Azithromycin is a macrolide antibiotic that can kill various bacteria in the body, but it is not a fever-reducing medication. Therefore, it is usually not recommended for treating fever in adults. If an adult's fever exceeds 38.5°C, antipyretic medications may be used as directed by a physician, such as ibuprofen sustained-release capsules or acetaminophen tablets.
