I haven't had sex for over half a year, yet I was diagnosed with an HPV infection. I currently have no symptoms. How could I have contracted the HPV virus?

The main causes of HPV infection include sexual transmission, indirect contact, and mother-to-child transmission. During sexual intercourse, if one partner is infected with HPV or is an HPV carrier without taking proper protective measures, the virus can be transmitted through sexual activity. Repeated contact with personal hygiene items used by someone infected with HPV—such as toilet paper, basins, or exposure to blood—may also lead to HPV infection. Additionally, if the virus has not been completely cleared before pregnancy, the baby may easily become infected with HPV when passing through the birth canal during delivery.
