Why does fever cause body aches?
Disease description:
I had a slight fever when I woke up this morning, and now I feel body aches all over. Why does fever cause whole-body pain?
Fever generally refers to an elevated body temperature. Body aches during fever may result from central nervous system disturbances caused by rising body temperature, leading to excessive muscle contractions and heat production. Alternatively, the increased basal metabolic rate during fever may lead to accumulation of metabolic waste products that cannot be promptly eliminated, resulting in a buildup of lactic acid in the muscles. If the body is infected by bacteria, viruses, or other pathogens, the release of toxins into the body and subsequent stimulation by these toxins can also commonly cause such symptoms. It is recommended to seek medical attention promptly for accurate diagnosis and treatment.
