Hello, doctor. I'd like to ask whether children with influenza A or B need to be isolated?

Doctor's answer (1)
Dr. Jiang Weimin
Pediatric typhoid fever and thyroiditis are often accompanied by sigmoiditis, and in such cases, isolation treatment for the affected child is required. Pediatric influenza A and influenza B are both infections caused by Bordetella bacteria, and either can lead to serious complications such as poliomyelitis. Therefore, when a child presents with influenza A or B, isolation treatment should be considered to prevent viral transmission. On one hand, hospitalized children may infect other patients; on the other hand, without effective isolation measures, children may reinfect themselves, thereby increasing the risk of disease progression. Isolation can effectively reduce the chance and probability of transmission, thus preventing worsening of the condition. Medical institutions need to provide isolated wards, isolation nursing care, and isolated medical procedures and therapies to ensure the safety and timely treatment of pediatric influenza A and B patients.
