Transmission routes of type B and type A influenza
Disease description:
Hello, doctor. Recently, people around me have been infected with influenza B. I'd like to ask you about the transmission routes of influenza B and influenza A.
Influenza A is a contagious disease that can cause severe illness in patients and may lead to death. Influenza B is also contagious, but infected individuals generally do not become as severely ill as with influenza A. Influenza A virus is considered more pathogenic than influenza B virus, which is regarded as less likely to cause severe disease and thus less pathogenic compared to influenza A.
Influenza A spreads easily through respiratory droplets, whereas influenza B is less transmissible via droplets and does not spread as readily. Influenza B may be transmitted orally through contact with a patient's bodily fluids or exposure to their saliva. Additionally, influenza B can spread via aerosols, a transmission route not typically associated with influenza A. Therefore, the transmission rate of influenza A is significantly higher than that of influenza B.
