If a child develops impaired consciousness or falls into a coma after a head injury, a brain CT scan should be performed promptly to detect and manage conditions such as intracranial hemorrhage. If there is obvious depression or bruising on the head after the injury, a brain CT scan is needed to determine whether skull fracture or intracranial hemorrhage has occurred. If the child experiences severe vomiting or seizures following the head injury, a brain CT scan should be conducted to evaluate for intracranial hemorrhage or other abnormalities.
