Facial numbness in children may be caused by various factors, with the following being common: 1. It could result from prolonged periods of the child looking down at a mobile phone or engaging in other downward-gazing activities, leading to straightening of the cervical spine's natural curvature or cervical disc herniation that compresses nerves, thereby causing facial numbness. 2. It may also be related to infections triggered by exposure to cold, including bacterial or viral infections, which can lead to neuroinflammation. Conditions such as facial neuritis or trigeminal neuritis can also cause facial numbness. If a child’s facial numbness persists or worsens, prompt medical evaluation is recommended.
