The optimal age for surgery in children with torticollis is typically between 1 and 3 years old. At this age, the child's sternocleidomastoid muscle has developed sufficiently, leading to relatively better surgical outcomes. For children under 1 year of age, surgery carries higher risks due to their young age, so conservative treatments such as massage and physical therapy are usually recommended to alleviate torticollis symptoms. If surgery is delayed beyond 3 years, torticollis may affect facial development and lead to facial deformities; therefore, delaying surgery too long is also not advisable.
