Dr. Cui Zhenqin
Hello, the spleen’s primary functions include digestion and absorption, transportation and transformation of nutrients, regulation of fluid metabolism, and containment of blood within the vessels. The spleen is closely associated with muscles, limbs, and the lips. When the spleen’s function of transportation and transformation becomes impaired, digestive, absorptive, and nutrient-distribution functions become abnormal, leading to symptoms such as reduced appetite, anorexia, abdominal distension, and weight loss. In severe cases, deficiency in the production of qi and blood may occur, resulting in dizziness, fatigue, lethargy, and diarrhea. In extreme cases, it may even lead to rectal prolapse or visceral ptosis. I hope this information is helpful to you. Wishing you good health!
