How to tell if a child has contracted influenza A or influenza B
Disease description:
Recently, my child has been sneezing frequently, and I suspect it might be the flu. How can I tell if a child has influenza A or influenza B?
Children with type B or type A influenza typically exhibit symptoms similar to those in adults, which may include the following:
1. Fever: May be accompanied by low-grade or high fever, fatigue, and headache.
2. Cough and sore throat: May be associated with wheezing or difficulty breathing.
3. Runny nose: May be accompanied by nasal congestion and sneezing.
4. Muscle aches and joint pain.
5. Vomiting and diarrhea (in some cases).
Symptoms of type A and type B influenza are very similar, but type A influenza may lead to more severe illness. If you notice your child exhibiting any of the above symptoms, you should seek prompt medical evaluation and treatment at a hospital.
