Why can influenza A also cause white lung?
Disease description:
Recently, many people around me have been infected with H1N1 influenza. I wonder why H1N1 can also cause white lung?
Influenza A refers to type A influenza. In rare cases, influenza A may lead to white lung, primarily occurring in individuals with pre-existing chronic lung diseases who do not receive timely treatment after infection. Clinical manifestations of influenza A mainly include high fever, cough, body aches, headache, runny nose, and fatigue. If the illness persists without recovery, influenza A virus may extensively replicate in the lungs, damaging normal lung function and causing increased diffuse exudates in the lung tissue, which may appear as "white lung" on lung CT scans. However, the vast majority of patients infected with influenza A generally do not develop viral pneumonia.
