If bleeding occurs after tooth extraction, immediately place a piece of sterile gauze or a cotton ball over the bleeding site and bite down firmly for about 30 minutes, then check whether the bleeding has stopped. Apply a towel or gauze soaked in ice water to the side of the face where the tooth was extracted; local blood vessels will naturally constrict in response to the cold, helping to stop the bleeding. If bleeding persists despite biting on cotton or using cold compresses, seek immediate medical attention from a dentist or go to the hospital for professional treatment.
