In general, patients with herpes zoster can take a shower, but the following points should be noted: patients should avoid using warm water and instead use cooler water to prevent the spread of the herpes virus in water; refrain from using shampoos, body washes, and other cleansing products, as these may facilitate the spread of the virus; and promptly clean all bathing supplies after use to prevent residual herpes virus on the items.
