Child has abdominal pain and fever
Disease description:
Child has abdominal pain and fever
Children with fever and abdominal pain are generally considered to have acute mesenteric lymphadenitis. Acute mesenteric lymphadenitis is commonly seen in children under eight years of age and is usually caused by viral infection, often occurring concurrently with or following an upper respiratory tract infection. It tends to recur easily and may sometimes be accompanied by fever. Color Doppler ultrasound examination may reveal enlarged mesenteric lymph nodes. For confirmed cases of lymphadenitis, no specific treatment is usually required. In more severe cases, fasting and intravenous antibiotic therapy may be recommended, which can significantly improve symptoms. If abdominal pain is severe, oral administration of Weichang'an pills may help relieve symptoms. Once diagnosed with acute mesenteric lymphadenitis, it is important to ensure adequate rest and avoid strenuous activities or exercise.
