What is the traditional Chinese medicine term for gallbladder polyps?
Disease description:
Recently, multiple gallbladder polyps were found during examination, the largest being 1.0 cm with 3-4 smaller ones under 1.0 cm. I would like to find a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) method that can eliminate them completely. What is gallbladder polyp called in TCM?
In traditional Chinese medicine, gallbladder polyps are known as "danzhang" (gallbladder distension). Gallbladder polyps refer collectively to a group of lesions characterized by polypoid protrusions of the gallbladder wall into the lumen. These include both neoplastic and non-neoplastic polyps. Because their nature is difficult to determine clinically and through imaging studies, they are also referred to as "gallbladder mucosal proliferative lesions." In traditional Chinese medicine, this condition is called danzhang and is usually caused by internal injury due to emotional factors, irregular diet, or imbalanced work-rest patterns. Common symptoms include abdominal fullness and discomfort, nausea, vomiting, bitter taste, and sticky mouth. Patients may consider adjunctive therapies such as acupuncture or moxibustion under medical guidance. When necessary, patients may also take traditional Chinese patent medicines such as Xiaoyan Libidan Tablets or Shudan Tablets as directed by a physician.
