How to treat a stye in the eye

Styes of the eye are mostly caused by staphylococcal infection. The following treatment measures are recommended: 1. Maintain good eye hygiene and avoid touching the eyes with dirty hands to prevent worsening of the infection; 2. Use antibiotic eye ointment (such as ofloxacin eye ointment) as prescribed to eliminate the infection; 3. Avoid squeezing or rubbing the eyelid area to prevent spreading the infection; 4. Apply warm compresses to the eye to improve local blood circulation and relieve pain; 5. Oral antibiotics (such as amoxicillin-clavulanate potassium capsules) may be taken as directed by a physician.
