Disease description:
I recently want to use total glucosides of centella, but I'm concerned that the medication might contain hormones. Is total glucosides of centella a hormone?
Asiaticoside is not a hormone, but a traditional Chinese medicine prepared from the whole herb of Centella asiatica (L.) Urban of the Umbelliferae family. Its main components include thankunoloside, asiaticoside, asiatic acid, and iso-thankunoloside, none of which are steroid hormones. Asiaticoside exhibits a unique dual regulatory effect, particularly in promoting wound repair and inhibiting excessive scar proliferation. It enhances the function of the reticuloendothelial system, stimulates capillary regeneration, improves blood circulation, thereby promoting the formation of normal granulation tissue and accelerating wound healing. At the same time, it reduces transglutaminase activity, decreases the levels of acidic mucopolysaccharides and collagen, and regulates the activity and proliferation cycle of fibroblasts, thus inhibiting excessive proliferation of scar-forming fibroblasts and reducing scar formation. Asiaticoside has shown favorable therapeutic effects in treating trauma, surgical wounds, burns, keloids, and scleroderma.
