How to relieve gallbladder pain
I often have stomach pain. At first, I thought it was due to eating something wrong, but as the pain persists over time, I begin to suspect something is really wrong—possibly gallbladder pain. So, how can gallbladder pain be relieved?
When experiencing gallbladder pain, patients should rest in bed and adopt a comfortable position, such as lying on their side or in a semi-reclining position, which can help alleviate pain to some extent. Applying heat to the painful area using a warm towel or hot water bottle may help relax the muscles around the gallbladder and relieve spasms causing pain. Regarding diet, fasting and avoiding fluids temporarily are recommended to prevent stimulating gallbladder contraction and worsening pain. If the pain is severe, medications may be used under a doctor's guidance—for example, antispasmodic analgesics can relieve smooth muscle spasms in the bile ducts. Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), such as ibuprofen capsules, can also reduce pain and inflammation.
However, these methods only provide temporary relief and do not address the underlying cause. Gallbladder pain may result from conditions such as cholecystitis or gallstones, so prompt medical evaluation is essential.
