Disease description:
What are the harms of bilateral varicocele?
The hazards of bilateral varicocele are mainly manifested in the following aspects:
1. Impact on sexual quality of life: Varicocele may cause local pain, especially after penile erection during sexual activity, leading to noticeable dull pain or severe discomfort, which may affect a man's ability to complete sexual intercourse.
2. Impairment of sperm quality: Severe varicocele may reduce sperm quality and increase the risk of necrozoospermia, thereby impairing male fertility and potentially leading to male infertility.
3. Sexual dysfunction: Long-term bilateral varicocele may lead to sexual dysfunction, such as reduced erectile function, erectile dysfunction (impotence), and premature ejaculation.
4. Testicular hypoxia: Varicocele may cause testicular congestion, resulting in venous blood stasis within the testicles, leading to oxygen deprivation. In severe cases, this may impair the testicle's spermatogenic function.
