15-Day Recovery Process for Double Eyelid Surgery
I had double eyelid surgery half a month ago and would like to know about the 15-day recovery process after double eyelid surgery.
The recovery process 15 days after double eyelid surgery varies from person to person, primarily influenced by the surgical method, individual physical condition, postoperative care, and the complexity of the procedure. Below is a general overview of the recovery timeline:
1. Early Postoperative Phase
Swelling and Pain: After surgery, noticeable swelling and pain around the eyes are normal physiological responses. Swelling may gradually increase, especially during the first two days following the procedure.
2. Mid-Recovery Phase
Reduction of Swelling: Starting from around day four, swelling and discomfort begin to subside progressively.
Suture Removal: For both minimally invasive incision and full-incision techniques, sutures are typically removed about seven days after surgery. Prior to removal, the incision sites should avoid contact with water to prevent infection.
3. The 15-Day Recovery Stage
Swelling Mostly Resolved: By the 15th day after double eyelid surgery, most individuals will have experienced significant reduction in swelling, and the new eyelid shape begins to emerge clearly.
Scar Formation: Scarring may start to develop at the incision sites. To help prevent hypertrophic scarring, it's recommended to begin applying anti-scar ointment the day after suture removal and continue for 1–3 months.
With proper care and adherence to postoperative guidelines, the eyes can recover more quickly and achieve a natural appearance.
