Can early-stage gastric cancer be cured?
I was recently diagnosed with stomach cancer. My doctor said I'm in the early stage, and with active treatment, the condition can be well controlled. He mentioned there are still good treatment options for stomach cancer. I'd like to ask: can early-stage stomach cancer be cured?
Gastric cancer can often be curable if diagnosed early and treated appropriately. However, the likelihood of cure depends on multiple factors, including the patient's overall health, the specific causes of the cancer, and the treatment methods used. Currently, there is no single method in medicine that guarantees a 100% cure rate for gastric cancer. For patients with gastric cancer, surgery is typically the first-line treatment option, involving removal of the affected tissue to control further disease progression. Following surgery, patients often undergo chemotherapy to eliminate any remaining cancer cells, enhance treatment effectiveness, and reduce the risk of recurrence.
