How to clinically diagnose early pregnancy
Disease description:
My menstruation is delayed, which might be a sign of pregnancy. How can early pregnancy be clinically diagnosed?
The clinical diagnostic methods for early pregnancy mainly include the following:
1. Symptom observation: Monitor whether the woman has missed her period, especially those with regular menstrual cycles. If menstruation is delayed by more than 10 days, pregnancy should be suspected. Additionally, observe for early pregnancy symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, dizziness, and fatigue.
2. Laboratory tests: Measure serum HCG levels through blood testing or perform a urine pregnancy test to preliminarily determine pregnancy. Blood HCG testing is the earliest and most accurate method, capable of detecting pregnancy approximately 10 days after sexual intercourse.
3. Ultrasound examination: Transvaginal B-mode ultrasound is the fastest and most accurate method to confirm early pregnancy and estimate gestational age. It is typically performed about 40 days after missed menstruation and can visualize the gestational sac and yolk sac within the uterus, thereby confirming early pregnancy.
