Can you get pregnant from having sex three days after your period ends?
The likelihood of pregnancy from intercourse three days after menstruation is relatively low, but it cannot be completely ruled out. The three to four days following the end of menstruation, as well as the three to five days before the next period, are generally considered relatively safe periods—also known as the "safe period." During this time, ovarian follicles may still be developing and not yet fully mature, making pregnancy less likely.
However, the safe period is not absolutely reliable. Ovulation can be influenced by various external factors such as emotional state, environment, and diet, meaning there is still a possibility of ovulation occurring during the so-called safe period. If intercourse occurs three days after menstruation and there is concern about pregnancy, emergency contraceptive measures can be taken, such as taking emergency contraceptive pills (e.g., mifepristone or levonorgestrel) within 72 hours after intercourse.
