Sexual intercourse should be avoided during menstruation. During the menstrual period, the uterine lining is shedding and vaginal bleeding is evident, while the body's resistance significantly decreases. Engaging in intercourse at this time may allow pathogens to ascend into the uterine cavity, leading to infections such as endometritis. Sexual activity may also stimulate uterine contractions, causing dysmenorrhea (painful menstruation) or increased menstrual flow, and could even contribute to endometriosis. Additionally, intercourse during menstruation may result in retrograde menstrual flow, potentially triggering gynecological conditions like pelvic inflammatory disease. For women's health, it is recommended to avoid sexual intercourse during menstruation. Waiting until the period ends and the body has fully recovered before resuming sexual activity is a safer and healthier choice.
