Disease description:

A relative's child has had poor stomach absorption since childhood, and as they grew older, they frequently developed mouth ulcers. Could a child's recurrent oral ulcers be related to poor stomach health?

Oral ulcers in children are not necessarily a direct sign of poor stomach health, although there may be some association between the two. Oral ulcers are relatively common in children and can have various causes, including viral or bacterial infections such as herpetic gingivostomatitis, herpangina, hand-foot-and-mouth disease, and acute ulcerative stomatitis, as well as trauma, deficiencies in vitamin B, zinc, iron, and other trace elements, drug allergies, or psychological factors. When children have poor spleen and stomach function, they may experience a range of digestive system symptoms, such as nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhea, or constipation. Long-term digestive dysfunction may also lead to nutrient deficiencies, weight loss, and sallow complexion. Although gastrointestinal problems may impair nutrient absorption and thereby indirectly increase the risk of oral ulcers, not all oral ulcers are caused by stomach issues.
