Disease description:

I've discovered I'm unexpectedly pregnant, but I'm a patient with chronic hepatitis B (positive for HBsAg, HBeAg, and anti-HBc). How can I prevent transmission of hepatitis B during pregnancy?

Pregnant women should undergo tests for liver function, hepatitis B virus DNA, and other indicators during the first, second, and third trimesters to monitor their condition. If liver function is not impaired, it is recommended to start antiviral therapy—such as tenofovir—under medical supervision around 24–28 weeks of gestation to prevent mother-to-child transmission. In addition, pregnant women should maintain a healthy diet, engage in moderate physical activity, and attend regular prenatal checkups and liver function monitoring. Within 24 hours after birth, infants should promptly receive hepatitis B immunoglobulin and the hepatitis B vaccine to further reduce the risk of vertical transmission. These interventions must be strictly followed according to medical advice to ensure the health of both mother and child.
