The severity of sessile colonic polyps must be determined according to specific circumstances. If the sessile colonic polyp is benign, it is generally not serious. Such polyps may result from factors such as genetics, bacterial, or viral infections, and patients may experience symptoms including diarrhea, abdominal pain, and mucus in the stool. Benign polyps usually do not require special treatment and can be managed with regular follow-up examinations. However, if the sessile colonic polyp is malignant, the condition is more serious. Malignant polyps carry a risk of cancerous transformation and require timely treatment, such as endoscopic mucosal resection or colectomy. If the disease has metastasized, additional treatments like chemotherapy may also be necessary. The seriousness of sessile colonic polyps should be comprehensively evaluated based on their nature and the patient's individual condition. If there are concerns or symptoms progressively worsen, prompt medical consultation for diagnosis and treatment is recommended.
