Hello, for facial redness and swelling due to an allergic reaction, the first step is to identify and eliminate the allergen. If cosmetics are the cause, discontinue their use immediately. When redness and swelling are prominent, open cold wet compresses with normal saline or a 0.3% boric acid solution may be applied—two to three times daily, for 10–20 minutes each session. During intervals between compresses, a low-potency topical corticosteroid ointment may be used briefly and in small amounts.
