Will bladder cancer consistently show blood in the urine?
Disease description:
Will bladder cancer consistently present with occult blood in urine?

Bladder cancer patients may experience microscopic hematuria, which is caused by factors such as tumor growth damaging blood vessels in the bladder wall, cellular debris, and tissue necrosis. Characteristics of hematuria include being painless and intermittent, and it may appear dark red, light red, or reddish-brown. In the early stages, hematuria may be intermittent; however, if left untreated, it can progressively worsen and last continuously for 1–3 months, with some patients experiencing it for up to about one year. The duration of hematuria varies among individuals and depends on disease progression, but it is generally closely related to the advancement of bladder cancer and the effectiveness of treatment. Therefore, bladder cancer patients may develop persistent microscopic hematuria, although specific circumstances require evaluation based on individual patient conditions.
