Is it normal to have bleeding during bowel movements after hemorrhoid surgery?
Disease description:
Last month I had surgery for mixed hemorrhoids. Recently, I've noticed bleeding during bowel movements. Does this mean I haven't fully recovered after the mixed hemorrhoid surgery?
Bleeding during bowel movements after surgery for mixed hemorrhoids may be caused by the following reasons:
1. Incomplete healing of the surgical wound: After surgery, the wound in the anal area requires time to heal. If the wound has not fully healed, actions such as squatting during defecation may cause oozing or bleeding from the wound site, which is a normal postoperative phenomenon.
2. Inflammatory irritation: Improper postoperative care may lead to bacterial growth at the surgical site, triggering an inflammatory response and resulting in symptoms such as rectal bleeding and pain.
3. Recurrence of the condition: If proper care is not maintained over time, mixed hemorrhoids may recur, leading to symptoms like rectal bleeding and tenesmus.
4. Other factors: Conditions such as colorectal polyps may also cause bloody stools.
Postoperative rectal bleeding after mixed hemorrhoid surgery does not necessarily indicate incomplete recovery, but medical attention should be sought promptly.
