What causes phlegm turbidity?
Disease description:
Today while reading a book, I came across the term "phlegm turbidity," but I don't understand what it means. Could you please explain what causes phlegm turbidity?
Causes of phlegm turbidity formation:
1. Respiratory tract infections: This is the main cause of phlegm turbidity, including lung infections and upper respiratory tract infections. Particularly after bacterial or fungal infections, phlegm may become thick and stringy.
2. Unhealthy lifestyle habits: Excessive consumption of raw, cold, greasy, and irritating foods—such as sweets and spicy dishes—can easily irritate the respiratory mucosa and lead to phlegm production.
3. Emotional stress: Poor emotional state or excessive stress may also contribute to increased phlegm turbidity.
4. Underlying diseases: Conditions such as bronchitis, pneumonia, and pulmonary tuberculosis can also cause phlegm turbidity. These diseases are typically accompanied by symptoms like coughing and sputum production.
To prevent and improve phlegm turbidity, it is recommended to maintain healthy lifestyle habits, adjust dietary patterns, avoid overconsumption of raw, cold, greasy, and irritating foods, maintain emotional stability, and actively treat related medical conditions.
