It is not recommended to share meals with someone who has tuberculosis. Tuberculosis (TB) is a contagious respiratory disease caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis, and the infectious period typically lasts from one to three months. During this time, even if the patient does not show obvious symptoms, the bacteria can still spread through respiratory droplets. Sharing meals often involves coughing, sneezing, or talking, all of which may transmit Mycobacterium tuberculosis via droplets. Maintaining good indoor ventilation and practicing personal hygiene can help reduce the risk of transmission. To prevent spreading the infection, it is advisable for individuals with tuberculosis to eat separately from family members or others, and to actively undergo treatment under medical supervision.
