I've had some pain in my cheek area for the past few days, but haven't gone to the hospital for a check-up. Could you please tell me what might be causing cheek pain?

1. Excessive chewing: Prolonged chewing of hard objects or foods requiring continuous mastication, such as sugarcane or gum, may lead to masseter muscle strain, resulting in soreness in the cheek area. This condition generally requires no special treatment and can be relieved with adequate rest and gentle massage of the affected area. 2. Parotitis: Parotitis is a common cause of cheek pain, usually caused by infection with the mumps virus and is contagious. Patients typically experience redness, swelling, warmth, and pain in the parotid gland and overlying skin; severe cases may also involve fever. Treatment involves isolating the patient, bed rest, and administration of antibiotics and antiviral medications to reduce inflammation and combat infection. 3. Trauma: Injury to the cheek area, such as impact or abrasion, can also cause cheek pain. If there is obvious skin damage, iodine disinfection should be used to prevent infection; if no open wound is present, ice application can be chosen for pain relief. 4. Oral diseases: Oral conditions such as incomplete eruption of wisdom teeth or pericoronitis may also lead to cheek pain.
