Why does the left testicle hurt?
Disease description:
Why does the left testicle hurt?
Possible causes of left testicular pain include:
1. Varicocele: The incidence of varicocele is higher on the left side than on the right. It may cause aching or dragging pain in the left testicle, particularly noticeable after physical activity.
2. Inflammatory conditions: Such as orchitis or epididymitis, which can lead to testicular swelling, pain, and a sensation of heaviness. Pain is typically pronounced upon touch.
3. Testicular torsion: Also known as spermatic cord torsion, this is a common cause of acute scrotal pain and may result in acute testicular ischemia and necrosis.
4. Hydrocele: When fluid accumulates excessively within the tunica vaginalis cavity, it may also cause testicular pain.
5. Other factors: Including trauma and tumors (such as testicular cancer), which may compress or irritate one testicle, leading to pain.
When experiencing left testicular pain, prompt medical evaluation is recommended for accurate diagnosis and appropriate treatment.
