Usage of Rifampicin Eye Drops
Disease description:
My eyes feel rather dry in the morning, and my vision is a bit blurry. I would like to use rifampicin eye drops. How should this medication be used?
Rifampicin eye drops are primarily used to treat ocular diseases such as trachoma, conjunctivitis, and keratitis. The usage instructions are as follows:
1. Preparation: Ensure your hands are thoroughly clean. Place the tablet from the eye drop solution into the buffer solution and gently shake until the tablet is completely dissolved.
2. Administration: Gently wipe away eye secretions and excess tears with a sterile cotton swab. Tilt your head backward or lie down flat. Use your thumb and index finger to gently separate the upper and lower eyelids, or use your index finger to pull down the lower eyelid. Look upward to expose the lower conjunctival sac. Hold the dropper bottle 2–3 cm above the eye, aim it toward the inner corner of the eye, and gently squeeze to instill the medication into the conjunctival sac.
3. Aftercare: After instilling the drops, keep your eyes gently closed for 3–5 minutes and apply light pressure with your finger to the tear sac area at the inner corner of the eye for approximately 2 minutes. Before opening your eyes, use a clean tissue or cotton swab to wipe away any excess medication around the eyes.
4. Precautions: Use 1–2 drops each time, 4–6 times daily. The eye drops should be used by one individual only and should not be used more than one month after opening. If using other eye drops or ointments simultaneously, pay attention to the correct order of administration and appropriate time intervals between medications.
Following the above steps ensures proper use of rifampicin eye drops and helps achieve optimal treatment outcomes for eye conditions.
