What complications can be caused by scrotal moisture?
Disease description:
My scrotal area has always been particularly moist, and I'm concerned about potential complications. What complications can scrotal moisture cause?
Scrotal moisture may lead to various complications, including:
1. Scrotal pruritus: characterized by itching of the scrotal skin without rash; prolonged scratching may result in skin thickening and lichenification.
2. Chronic scrotal eczema: localized to the scrotal skin, sometimes extending to the perianal area and rarely to the penis, with symptoms including intense itching, rashes, erosion, and exudation.
3. Tinea cruris (jock itch): scrotal moisture may trigger this fungal infection, primarily presenting as itching on the upper inner thighs, genital area, and groin, accompanied by small papules, vesicles, and scaling.
4. Candidiasis (yeast infection): penile itching associated with red papules and white scaling.
5. Prostatitis: scrotal moisture is one of the typical symptoms of chronic prostatitis; long-term untreated cases may lead to worsening inflammation.
6. Balanitis: prolonged damp conditions may irritate the glans and mucous membranes, causing inflammation manifested as redness, swelling, itching, and even pain of the glans.
