What is orchitis?
Disease description:
I've been feeling discomfort in my testicles recently. After a hospital examination, I was diagnosed with orchitis, but I don't even know how I got it. Could you please explain what orchitis is?

Orchitis is a common inflammatory condition of the male reproductive system, usually caused by various factors. The main causes include bacterial infections such as Proteus, Escherichia coli, and Staphylococcus. These bacteria enter the urinary tract through the urethra and subsequently infect the testicles. In addition, mumps virus infection can spread to the testicles via the bloodstream, leading to orchitis. Risk factors such as unhygienic sexual practices, lower abdominal trauma, and cystourethritis may also increase the likelihood of developing the disease. Main symptoms of orchitis include testicular swelling and pain, fever, and possible systemic symptoms such as chills, nausea, and vomiting. Treatment of orchitis typically involves anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory measures, along with symptomatic management based on the clinical presentation.
