2. Pulpitis is another possible cause, especially when tooth decay has reached the dental pulp. The increased blood flow to the head at night can accelerate blood circulation within the pulp chamber, possibly stimulating the pulp and causing severe pain.
3. Acute apical periodontitis may also cause nighttime pain, with symptoms including persistent throbbing pain and pain upon biting.
