Autism itself does not directly cause hearing impairments in patients. Autism is a neurodevelopmental disorder that primarily affects a patient's social interaction, verbal and nonverbal communication, repetitive and stereotyped behaviors, and emotional regulation. Hearing problems in individuals with autism may occur indirectly due to other factors, such as underdeveloped inner ear structures, vestibular developmental issues, or damage to the auditory nerve. These symptoms are more commonly seen in individuals with more severe forms of autism. Therefore, if a person with autism experiences hearing impairments, it is recommended that parents promptly take the child to the hospital for diagnosis to determine the cause and initiate timely treatment. Additionally, parents should closely monitor their child's behavior in daily life and seek professional medical assistance when any abnormalities are noticed.
