I’ve been experiencing severe itching at my urethral opening all day today. The itchiness is mainly located just inside the urethral opening, but there’s no visible abnormality. Could you please advise what might be causing this?

Hello, itching at the urethral meatus is most commonly caused by gonococcal urethritis. This condition is associated with overall health status, excessive sexual activity, smoking, alcohol consumption, and intake of spicy or irritating foods. Additional symptoms may include dysuria (painful or difficult urination), urinary frequency, and urethral meatal congestion. To prevent urethral meatal itching, women should avoid shared bathing and public bathtubs, consistently use condoms during sexual intercourse, and maintain good personal hygiene. If infection occurs, prompt and thorough treatment is essential to completely eradicate the disease. I hope this information is helpful. Wishing you good health!
