Can benign kidney tumors cause blood in the urine?
Disease description:
Recently, during a physical examination organized by my employer, I suddenly discovered that I have a benign tumor in my kidney. However, lately I have noticed that my urine appears red, which might be hematuria. Can a benign kidney tumor cause blood in the urine?
Whether benign kidney tumors can cause hematuria depends on the specific circumstances. Generally, benign kidney tumors that have not invaded the renal pelvis or urinary system usually do not cause hematuria. For example, renal hamartomas, which are common benign kidney tumors, often produce no obvious symptoms and do not cause hematuria when they are small. However, when benign tumors grow larger, such as an enlarged renal hamartoma, they may cause symptoms such as hematuria and flank pain. In addition, certain benign kidney tumors, like renal fibromas, may lead to hematuria if the tumor grows and experiences internal bleeding or rupture. Hematuria caused by benign kidney tumors is not a common phenomenon and is more closely related to the tumor's size, location, and the systems it affects. If you have any concerns, it is recommended to seek timely medical consultation.
