Headache and dry mouth may be caused by various factors: 1. Non-disease factors: Excessive mental stress, anxiety, overwork, or frequently staying up late may lead to dysfunction of the autonomic nervous system, thereby causing headache and dry mouth. 2. Disease-related factors: After a cold, bacterial or viral invasion and dysfunction of the body's temperature regulation center may result in fever, headache, and dry mouth. Patients with hypertension may experience headache due to cerebral vasoconstriction and spasm during episodes of elevated blood pressure, and may also feel dry mouth due to water and electrolyte imbalance. For diabetic patients, high blood sugar levels increase blood osmotic pressure, reduce saliva secretion, and may lead to symptoms of headache and dry mouth. 3. TCM perspective: Headache accompanied by dry mouth is considered a manifestation of excess heat syndrome in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), possibly related to excessive internal heat ("fire"), and may be accompanied by symptoms such as flushed face, red ears, sore throat, and swollen pharynx. When experiencing headache and dry mouth, it is recommended to adjust lifestyle habits according to the specific cause or seek timely medical attention.
